A Live Squid Game Is Taking Place

Netflix's biggest hit series, Squid Game is a South Korean drama in which characters who are in debt play children's games with fatal consequences for the losers. Despite its mature themes and violent nature, the series has attracted an international following and has been popular with people of all ages. 

The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago is now using the huge success to host a K-Experience event to honor Korean culture." Squid Game” is coming back to Netflix for a second season in 2024.

 Six game stations were set up by the Chicago-based group. Marbles Games, Ddakji Game, Tug of War, Honeycomb Shape Cutting, Red Light, Green Light, and Squid Game were among the games they played. The characters played all these games in the first season's nine episodes. While the show's life-or-death fight is fictional, Squid Game is a real game practiced by youngsters in South Korea. 

It peaked in popularity in the 1970s and 1980s when the show's creator was still in his early twenties. The series' director, Hwang Dong-hyuk, chose Squid Game as the show's title because he felt it was the most physical game and the most metaphorical for the subjects he wanted to explore.

People were divided up and played the games seen in the series at the real-life Squid Game event in Chicago. COVID-19 has prohibited the sharing of food at cultural events, even though cultural events generally feature a lot of food. The awards for the games were South Korean dishes provided by the cultural center. The games in Squid Game were all simple children's games with clear instructions. 

Hwang Dong-hyuk has stated that he used basic games from his youth to keep the audience's attention on the characters, the story's stakes, and the show's themes rather than trying to figure out the rules throughout the episode. This proved to be a wise decision since it made it much easier for worldwide audiences to comprehend. While games like Red Light and Green Light are popular in many countries, not everyone is familiar with them. It's likely that keeping them as simple as possible made the show more approachable.

It has also piqued the interest of many younger viewers. Some schools have even issued Squid Game warnings to parents.
